Karina brings over 25 years of extensive experience in apparel design on both technical and creative end, pattern making, tailoring and production.

She has a great experience teaching at Villasmil de Leon Institute (Caracas, Venezuela), Miami International University of Art (Miami-Florida, USA) and Fort Lauderdale Art Institute (Broward-Florida, USA) mentoring, designing and training Pattern Making with Gerber system and Optitex program.

Designers & Creative Teams Against Domestic Violence was born when founder and victim of domestic violence herself, Karina Gomez-Herrera made her vision and passion of helping domestic violence victims a reality.

Karina began her education and career in Venezuela where she received her Associates degree in Pattern Making and Grading for massive production and tailoring, also a Bachelor degree in Fashion Design from “Villasmil de Leon Institute”.

To further her education, Karina then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design from Fort Lauderdale Art Institute in Florida. This year, Karina also earned a Master in Design and Media Management from Miami International University of Art and Design.

She currently teaches Computerized Pattern making and Fashion Design Studio at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale.
